Before attaching the cover to the roller, let’s look at two preliminary actions that may be required first.
Soak and Clean
If you are reusing a roller cover, soak and clean the cover using a combination of paint remover and warm water in a container. This cleaning process is best done right after last use to keep paint from spilling onto the roller frame. If the paint roller is allowed to dry up with attached paint, the process of removing paint from the frame is going to be more difficult. Take Off the Existing Roller Cover
Roller covers generally slide over the top of the roller frame, or cage. In order to remove the existing cover from the frame, it is necessary to pry it away by hand. The effort required to separate the cover from the cage should not be too substantial. You can also change the cage if it happens to be worn out. Once this step is completed, you are ready to proceed with attaching the cover to be used to the paint roller.

This is probably the easiest step in the process of preparing your paint roller for use. Simply slide the roller cover over the cage. Make sure it fully covers the cage.
